چکیده

Abstract Background Toxic effect of some local bacterial isolates, isolated from the Egyptian cotton plant ( Gossypium barbadance L.), on larvae spiny bollworm (SBW), Earias insulana (Boisduval) (Lepidoptera: Nolidae) was studied as well biological effects most toxic isolate. Results Bacillus safensis NBRC 100820 had SBW compared to other isolates. Larval mortality percentages were 100, 90, 50, 50 and 30% for newly hatched, 3, 5, 7 10-day’s old larvae, respectively, after 2 days treatment. Moreover, B. caused latent different stages SBW. It decreased larval pupal weight, adult emergence hatchability number deposited eggs/female more than control. Using 16s rRNA confirmed identification its accession is MW281809. Conclusions Use can be recommended control E. . Further field studies are needed.

Use of Bacillus thuringiensis toxins for control of the cotton pest Earias insulana (Boisd.) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae).

Thirteen of the most common lepidopteran-specific Cry proteins of Bacillus thuringiensis have been tested for their efficacy against newly hatched larvae of two populations of the spiny bollworm, Earias insulana. At a concentration of 100 microg of toxin per milliliter of artificial diet, six Cry toxins (Cry1Ca, Cry1Ea, Cry1Fa, Cry1Ja, Cry2Aa, and Cry2Ab) were not toxic at all. Cry1Aa, Cry1Ja, ...

presence of multiple cry genes in bacillus thuringiensis isolated from dead cotton bollworm heliothis armigera

cry genes encoding cry proteins toxic to lepidoptera, coleoptera and diptera species were studied in thirty seven b. thuringiensis strains isolated from twelve naturally infested heliothis armigera larvae. to further confirm the isolates, two groups of species-indicative biochemical tests were applied while discriminative biochemical tests being employed to figure out the repetitive strains. a ...

Reduced plant nutrition under elevated CO2 depresses the immunocompetence of cotton bollworm against its endoparasite

Estimating the immunocompetence of herbivore insects under elevated CO2 is an important step in understanding the effects of elevated CO2 on crop-herbivore-natural enemy interactions. Current study determined the effect of elevated CO2 on the immune response of Helicoverpa armigera against its parasitoid Microplitis mediator. H. armigera were reared in growth chambers with ambient or elevated C...

Effect of resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis cotton on pink bollworm (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) response to sex pheromone.

Fitness costs associated with resistance to transgenic crops producing toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) could reduce male response to pheromone traps. Such costs would cause underestimation of resistance frequency if monitoring was based on analysis of males caught in pheromone traps. To develop a DNA-based resistance monitoring program for pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunde...
